Intimate Fellowship with God

DEVOTION • “If anyone loves me, he will keep my word, and my Father will love him, and we will come to him and make our home with him” (John 14:23).

Read time: 2 min

Jesus promises the intimate fellowship of God in John 14:22-24. When asked by the apostle Jude why He will manifest Himself to them and not to the world, Jesus states that only those who draw near to Him in love can experience this intimate fellowship.

“If anyone loves me, he will keep my word, and my Father will love him, and we will come to him and make our home with him.”

This promise speaks of a foretaste of heaven on earth. The Father and Son through the Spirit will make their home with those who love and obey Jesus. Not all believers will enjoy God’s presence alike because this promise of intimate fellowship with God is largely conditional. It depends on the degree of our love and obedience to Christ.

Pursue this intimate fellowship with God. Love and obey Jesus, and you will experience the fullness of His presence and the joy of His companionship.

Heavenly Father, draw me into a deeper love and obedience to you so that I may experience the fullness of your intimate fellowship. Amen.
